On behalf of the National Board of Directors, the 2009 Elections Committee, and the 2009 National Convention Committee, we welcome you to the 2009 National Convention: City of ΘΝΞ Love – Headed in a New Direction!
National Convention is the once-a-year opportunity for all Theta Women to unite in the collective spirit of sisterhood and multiculturalism, to move our sisterhood forward through the legislative process, elections, training, and learning, and to recognize the accomplishments made by all of you amazing sisters throughout the past year! As our world and country are certainly headed in a new direction, it is also an extremely important time in the history of our sisterhood. We are rapidly approaching 12 years and 1,000 members; it is essential that we rejuvenate and get all of the members of our organization on the same path. This year’s convention theme, City of ΘΝΞ Love – Headed in a New Direction, mirrors these changes, as well as our strength as powerful catalysts for change by making lasting positive global impacts at a local level. Our National Convention is a time to become re-focused on how we will make small, large, and always significant impacts as a united organization through our mission and bond as sisters.

This year’s convention offers several networking and growth opportunities, educational workshops, leadership opportunities, service projects, and an array of special events to keep us Headed in a New Direction! Through the convention experience, we hope you will:
RECONNECT: Meet and reconnect with sisters from around the country. Reconnect with your individual purpose for becoming a Theta Woman; become inspired and focused on your goals.
LEARN and GROW: Attend a variety of events (for both convention first timers and seasoned sisters) that will help us grow, individually and collectively, as Theta Women.
LEAD: Be engaged in the decision-making processes of our organization that will take Theta Nu Xi in a powerful and positive direction.
INNOVATE: Share ideas and strategize for the future of our sisterhood at the national, regional, and local level!
NETWORK and DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS: Make key connections with sisters from around the nation in order to strengthen our professional networks, as well as collaborative efforts.
REPRESENT and SERVE: Make an impact on the local Philadelphia community and our national philanthropy – Girls For A Change, through service projects and involvement that will reflect what Theta Women are all about.
ENJOY! With such a great location, so many sisters to connect, learn, and lead with, and in such a great time of change, we must enjoy this ΘΝΞderful occasion!
What a better time and place than to have National Convention in the “City of Brotherly Love” – Philadelphia! (Soon to be the City of ΘΝΞ Love!) Not only is Philadelphia a trendy, modern, and diverse metropolis, but it is also one of the most important historical cities recognized for the people and events that paved the way for liberty in the United States. As we head in a new direction, we will truly be inspired by Philly’s history of shaping the nation and the impact it has on our current lives.
We invite all Theta Women to attend this year’s National Convention and remind you that it is a purposeful occasion for all of us: new members, sisters wishing to become more connected, undergraduates, graduate students and professionals, chapter advisors, alumnae, the National Board of Directors and other sorority decision makers, and of course – our Founding Monarchs! Sisters, we are truly excited about what this year’s convention means for the future of our sorority.
